My Top 5 B&B´s worldwide

If you ask yourself why there are currently no new articles on my travelblog … here is the news: I´m busy trying to make a dream come true and establish my own little Bed & Breakfast. Sounds crazy? Maybe… but with a little help from my loved ones, a strong ambition and a lot of passion it works! Now I take this as an opportunity not only to leave all the dust and dirt behind me for a while but also to introduce my very own TOP 5 B&Bs that helped me figure out my idea. So thank you at this point Errol, Ursula & George from Australia, Salvatore and Nunzia from Italy, Sue & Dave from Ireland as well as Dan & Tree from Florida…

Ranked 5th: The B&B L´uliveto in Montepertuso/ Italy

L´uliveto - Life is a Journey

This lovely, little B&B high above the romantic town of Positano at the Italian Amalficoast does have three advantages… location, location and location! The view from the balcony is just breathtaking beautiful whereas the price is absolutely affordable. If you like you can easily walk down app. 1.000 steps to Positano and enjoy the views but do absolutely take the bus back except you are training for the ironman 🙂 The accommodation is simple but your hosts Salvatore and Nunzia are lovely and absolutely warm-hearted people! Whether it was a reservation for dinner in the nearby restaurant where Salvatore works as a waiter, a lift to the restaurant, the personal wine-shopping-assistance or the self-made jam we got as a present … we definitely felt like home away from home!

Ranked 4th: The Parkwood B&B in Airlie Beach/ Australia

Parkwood B&B view - Life is a Journey

Also Ursula and George grew close to our hearts during our short stay in Airlie Beach. Ursula – who is originally from Switzerland – and her husband established a little Oasis located in the hills behind Airlie Beach. Here you really get “Kangaroos for breakfast” as wallabies inhabit the bushes nearby and come for breakfast every morning while you enjoy the outstanding views over the rainforest and the ocean… We stayed in the apartment and had not only a fully equipped kitchen but also a lovely furnished deck. In the evening we used the BBQ and George gave us a lift to the marina early the next morning. Unforgettable is the chat we had before we left which caused in a delay of nearly 2 hours but was so helpful in strengthen my plans!

Ranked 3rd: The Mango Street Inn in Fort Myers Beach/ Florida

Mango Street Inn - Life is a Journey

Staying with Dan and Tree in Fort Myers Bach, Florida was like being part of the family from the very first minute. With their cute dog “Cookie” on my lap we sat in the interior courtyard under the pergola drinking wine, chatting and listening to their former projects. The Mango Street Inn used to be a Crack house which they turned – with the perfect eye for detail – to an absolutely comfy and relaxed B&B. You can loan bikes to cruise the beach and also beach-gear to enjoy a lazy day in the sun. As Dan is a trained and passionate chef his gourmet breakfast in the morning is just delicious! Even our next accommodation on Captiva Island was arranged by Tree … what else could you ask for?

Ranked 2nd: The Posh Nosh Club in Navan/ Ireland

Posh Nosh - Life is a Journey

Also the Posh Nosh Club is one of the lucky ones who was already mentioned in one of my former articles. More or less by chance we booked our room as we were looking for an accommodation not far from the Slane Castle festival area. There we found two absolutely warmhearted and slightly chaotic but lovely hosts, beautiful arranged rooms in an historical building, a wonderful park-like garden and not to forget… a fantastic dinner! As Sue and Dave run their own supper club, a private restaurant within their own house. What an incomparably good combination! So if you are looking for a romantic hideaway within the beautiful Irish landscape, that’s the place to be!

Ranked 1st: The Daintree Manor B&B in Daintree/ Australia

Daintree Manor view - Life is a Journey

Everyone who has already been to Daintree knows that this spot in the middle of the tropical rainforest is absolutely unique and beautiful. If you have – on top of that – the opportunity to stay with Errol in his lovely B&B you couldn’t have done any better! Errol is not only the perfect host – never intrusive but always around when you need him – he also prepares a fantastic gourmet breakfast! In addition he grows most of the ingredients in his own garden and tries to become fully self-contained. So you will have a good chance of tasting tropical fruits that you have never seen before… The view from the Verandah to the ancient rainforest and the valley is absolutely breathtaking and just one of the many reasons our stay was so relaxing. The rooms and the guest lounge are absolutely cozy and the fridge was always filled with nice goodies like cheese and crackers. Errol puts all his heart and soul into his little B&B and that’s what you recognize from the very first second!
